“THE IMAGE OF THE PORK SECTOR. A SUPPLEMENTARY VIEW” WEBINAR

We are closing this series of webinars on the image of the pig sector with a very special debate in which 2 representatives of animal protection associations offered us their viewpoints about our sector.

Our image is linked to the care and protection of the animals and the environment. Therefore, it is necessary to listen and pay attention to people with different sensibilities.

In this way, we will be able to understand how to improve the image that the public opinion has regarding our sector.

The experts

We counted on:

María Moreno García-Doncel (specialist in animals used for human consumption at the Fundación FAADA).
Alberto Díez (Director of ANDA).
Miguel Ángel Higuera (Director of Anprogapor), representing our sector.

María and Alberto told us how they see the Spanish pig sector and the relationship between its associations and it.

Which are our weak spots? High densities, pregnancy, and farrowing crates, tail docking…?

Thanks to their contribution we can obtain valuable suggestions to improve the image of the sector.

Is there any possibility regarding the joint work between farming sectors and organizations that look after animal rights? Do the actions, that overstep the law, of some animal rights activists, benefit, or are detrimental to the rest of the organizations? Which are the future aspects that will originate from Europe regarding stockbreeding?

These and many other questions were answered in this interesting debate. This is basic to understand how they consider us abroad and which aspects we can Improve.
